🚆 A Tribute to 50 Years of British Railway Heritage
In 1976, the InterCity 125 entered passenger service, bringing a new era of speed, comfort, and modern railway travel to Britain.
Capable of reaching 125 mph, this remarkable diesel-powered train transformed long-distance journeys and became one of the most recognisable symbols of British railway engineering.
For generations of passengers, railway workers, and train enthusiasts, the InterCity 125 was more than just a train.
It was the sound of a powerful engine leaving the station, the excitement of a long-awaited journey, and the sight of that unmistakable yellow nose approaching along the tracks.
Now, 50 years later, this commemorative coin celebrates the engineering, memories, and enduring legacy of a true British railway legend.
